Act 616 (HB 301) Effective 8/15/2003: Formally repeals La.R.S. 23:1225(C)(1)(b) (previously ruled unconstitutional by the La. Supreme Court), which allowed for the reduction of a claimant's Workers' Compensation benefits when the claimant began to receive Social Security old-age (retirement) benefits. 
 
Act 306 (SB 788) Effective 8/15/2003: Extends the "sunset" provision of La.R.S. 23:1221 providing for lump-sum payments for catastrophic injuries.
 
Act 485 (SB 336) Effective 8/15/2003: Allows for expedited appeals in cases where the Workers' Compensation Judge has specifically determined that delaying surgery would cause irreparable injury or death to the claimant.
 
Act 709 (HB 1294) Effective 8/15/2003: Clarifies the time limit for filing an appeal following a Motion for New Trial.
 
Act: 733 (HB 1712) Effective 8/15/2003: Requires that occupational illness claims must be filed with the Court, not the employer. 
 
Act 886 (HB 1656) Effective 8/15/2003: Restricts claimants' rights to select a doctor to be their primary treating physician.
 
Act 980 (HB 1989) Effective 8/15/2003: Provides for an expedited hearing in some vocational rehabilitation disputes. 
 
Act 1201 (SB 771) Effective 8/15/2003: Allows claimants or their attorneys to attend conferences between vocational experts and physicians without having to pay an additional fee to participate.
 
Act 1204 (SB 819) Effective 8/15/2003: Changes the basis and amount of attorney's fees that may be awarded by the Workers' Compensation Court.
